Boxer pays up in Las Vegas Federal Court

According to reporter Ken Ritter of the Associated Press,  a federal judge in Las Vegas has ordered professional boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. to pay approximately $114,000 for avoiding questioning from rival fighter Manny Pacquiao's lawyers in a defamation case.

Ritter reports that Mayweather pleaded guilty in December 2011 to reduced misdemeanor charges stemming from a hair-pulling, arm-twisting attack on another former girlfriend, Josie Harris, while two of their three children watched.

Free Legal Advice after your Domestic Violence Arrest:

A Las Vegas domestic violence lawyer will assist you through your criminal proceedings and provide you the best possible defense given the situation. A domestic violence charge in Las Vegas is no laughing matter.  It can haunt you across state lines and over many years.  Domestic violence can affect Las Vegas child custody, job options, gun ownership, and sentencing at future criminal convictions.

Do not count on your significant other that you are alleged to have attacked helping you.  Your "victim" including your spouse does not have to testify for you to be convicted of domestic violence.

If you have been arrested for domestic violence in Las Vegas, you should hire a lawyer with experience handling domestic violence.  Louis C. Schneider, a former Las Vegas prosecutor, has been defending tourists and residents of Las Vegas for many years and has handled hundreds of criminal cases, including domestic violence cases.

You need a Las Vegas domestic violence attorney who has experience.  Your attorney will review the police report, witness statements, and other evidence soon after your arrest for domestic violence.  Furthermore, a Las Vegas domestic violence lawyer shall look for procedural defects with the police report, including jurisdictional, legal cause for the disturbance call, and appropriate maintenance of evidence. A Las Vegas domestic violence attorney will interview witnesses for the defense and the prosecution.

It is necessary for a Las Vegas domestic violence attorney to do the above steps in order to negotiate a deal or prepare for domestic violence trial.  Even if this is only your first offense, it is important to treat your defense aggressively because any future charges could completely devastate your life.

We offer the below advice free of charge, but it could save you years of grief:

Criminal Charge in the Rehab at the Hard Rock?

Las Vegas is, no doubt, an exciting place to live and play.  The saying, “What happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas,” however, is not always entirely true.  A Las Vegas lawyer who handles family law and criminal law can tell you that unplanned parenthood in Las Vegas, a quickie marriage, a car wreck, or a slightly illegal act can have far reaching consequences—affecting even your right to travel (child support arrears and certain criminal charges can restrict your passport and driver’s license) or even your right to your children (a Las Vegas domestic violence conviction can destroy your case for child custody in Las Vegas).  You may feel like Las Vegas is an open and free place to engage in behavior you would not do elsewhere, but you are still not free to break the law.

The best thing to do, if you get in any kind of trouble, be it with Las Vegas law enforcement, or with someone you hooked up with in Las Vegas, is to seek out both the legal advice as well as the practical counsel of an experienced Las Vegas attorney.

As a Las Vegas attorney, Louis Schneider has worked on numerous cases, for instance, arising from problems people have had while visiting Rehab at the Hard Rock Hotel in the summer.  A combination of heat and drinks can sometimes cause legal problems and consequently criminal charges requiring a Las Vegas criminal defense attorney (i.e. DUI, assault and battery).  If someone calls the police because a fight broke out or because of some drunk and disorderly conduct, remember to keep your cool when dealing with the police.  You must consider that they are not on your side and will take anything you say and hold it against you, even if you thought you were saying something in your defense. KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT.

Domestic violence charges can stem from a trip to Las Vegas.  If you get into an altercation with someone you are sharing a hotel room with, and the police are called, you could be charged with domestic violence.  If you are convicted, you will lose your legal right to own a handgun and you can also lose your rights to access to your children.  The best advice is for you to hire a Las Vegas lawyer as soon as you are charged with a crime and DO NOT make any statement to the police other than to tell them your name and supply your identification.

You may also be charged with solicitation or prostitution charges when you thought you were simply hiring an escort or private dancer.  A Las Vegas attorney handling criminal cases like this can best maximize your chances of surviving these charges with your dignity and privacy in tact.  It is important that you do not try to explain away your predicament with law enforcement, instead, explain it to your privately retained criminal defense lawyer.

If you have been injured in Las Vegas and you believe that the harm was caused by someone who can compensate you for your injuries, including your pain and suffering, you should immediately call a Las Vegas personal injury lawyer before the evidence evaporates, the statute of limitation runs, or the money that you could be compensated from disappears.  Automobile accidents are the typical reasons people seek the assistance of personal injury lawyers.

The Law Offices of Louis C. Schneider and Associates is a Las Vegas general practice law firm that represents locals, visitors, and anyone connected to Las Vegas or Henderson in Southern Nevada.  Louis Schneider is a litigator who will fight for your best interests in court and during negotiations for your family law, criminal legal defense, or personal injury needs.  Family law includes primarily divorce, child custody, and relocation.  Criminal law defense covers anything from a speeding ticket to murder.  Louis Schneider brings not only his zealous advocacy and years of experience to your case, but he also has access to numerous resources and individuals that can make a difference for you.
